Determines methods and performs all sequences and functions related to the assembly, modification, testing, servicing, repair and operation of vehicles and models in the prototype developmental and low rate production stages where complete information or work instructions are not available, test procedures and standards have not been completely established, operational sequences vary considerably and tooling is inadequate or not available. Includes the developmental fabrication and assembly of metallic and nonmetallic components and structures, electrical fabrication, installation, and checkout of all sub-systems, functional testing where it is required to exercise a complete knowledge of electronic theory and aircraft functional systems, general vehicle maintenance, modification and repairs to all types of sub-systems and structures and any support required during flight/range test operations. Assists in the development of new processes, methods and technologies. Develops and manufactures limited use tooling and shop aids. Works from engineering drawings, sketches, oral instructions and specifications. Assists and collaborates in developing components, systems and assemblies, with limited direction, and providing data for inclusion in designs. Assists in the transition from prototype and low rate production to full production. Prepares and/or maintains aircraft for flight, inactive or storage status in accordance with applicable specifications. Performs satisfactorily any function of the Systems and Electrical Checkout Mechanic. Installs/assembles components or systems, incorporates design or modification changes in structure, electrical, functional systems, power plants, components and accessories; makes adjustments, synchronizations, alterations, repairs, corrections, and replacements as required. Works with blueprints, diagrams, sketches, schematics, service bulletins, maintenance manuals and technical orders. Collaborates with authorized Company, Customer and/or Vendor personnel. Fabricates and assembles test setups involving complex hardware and conducts tests with accompanying data recording and evaluation. Determines sequence of fabrication and assembly, selects materials for job requirements and uses own initiative for construction methods. Sets up and operates equipment used in the metallic, plastics and composite manufacturing processes. Fabricates or modifies all manner of sheet metal and composite components, conducts sub-assembly operations and component testing. Sets up assemblies and parts in curing equipment such as an autoclave, oven, platen press, or integrally-heated tooling in order to obtain desired set and cure. Improvises shop aids and works without tooling in fabrication, assembling, installing, mating and checkouts of product structures and systems. Qualifications:
Must have a minimum of 4 years combined experience in aircraft assembly, modifications, system installation, servicing or component fabrication Must be able to demonstrate a knowledge of or have successfully completed training in the following job skills:
Blueprint II; system troubleshooting and checkout; principle of operations of fuel systems; flight control systems and hydraulic systems; principles of operation of propulsion systems; familiarization in operation of ground support equipment; repair technology; skin, scratch, structural, plastic and composite repair, fabrication; basic computer operations. Must have ability to read and interpret schematics illustrations and wiring diagrams and principles of operation of environmental and life support systems.
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
